◆An awards party at Billboard Live Yokohama
The stage was a corporate awards party held at Billboard Live Yokohama, reserved exclusively for the evening.
The party welcomed the award winners and their families, and a magic show was included in the entertainment programme following an orchestral performance. It was also the first time the host company had included a magic show in one of its events.
◆An illusion show for award winners and their families
An awards party is a special occasion not only for the winners themselves but also for the families who support them every day.
With three performers and two assistants, we presented an illusion show on stage. Under the lighting and sound of a live music venue, the show was built on a visual scale that let the entire room share the same moments.
A bespoke production for the event
Alongside established pieces, the show included an original production created for this awards party.
At an awards ceremony, what matters is less "what magic to show" than "what kind of time to create for the award winners who are the stars of the evening." Designing the production around the event's purpose lets the show blend naturally into the party and makes it worthy of a memorable day.
◆A 30-minute show following the orchestra
The evening's entertainment ran as a 30-minute orchestral performance followed by a 30-minute magic show.
Following the elegant atmosphere created by the orchestra with a visually striking illusion show gave the second half of the party a clear arc.
At events that combine several forms of entertainment, guest satisfaction comes from each performer playing a role within the overall programme rather than standing alone.
◆Preparing for a live music venue
A live venue such as Billboard Live Yokohama differs from a typical hotel banquet room in how the stage is used and how the programme runs. For this event, we coordinated the following with the organizer and the venue in advance.
- Completing the venue's equipment list (microphones, audio connection, etc.)
- Preparing a stage plan showing the props we would bring
- Setting a rehearsal slot that did not overlap with the orchestra's rehearsal
- Striking our equipment after rehearsal and setting it up again before the show
All playback and operation of music during the show was handled by our team, so the venue did not need to run any cues.
A programme that doesn't add to the organizer's workload
For those in charge of an internal event, coordinating with the venue and managing multiple performers can be a considerable burden.
By setting up a team that handles everything from set-up to strike without requiring the venue to provide stage equipment, we help organizers focus on hosting the award winners and their families. That, too, is an important part of a performer's role.
